It describes a cloud storage or a cloud encryption solution where the provider of the solution itself does not have access to the users’ password and content. Info: The term zero knowledge in the context of data encryption was first coined by Edward Snowden. You can read all details and information about how exactly the encryption of files works in the technical overview of Boxcryptor. For this reason, Boxcryptor is – just like Cryptomator – a zero knowledge provider. This way, the password remains exclusively on the user’s device and we at Boxcryptor itself cannot access your password and therefore cannot access your cloud content. The password hash is transmitted, hashed a second time on the Boxcryptor servers, and the result is stored. The user’s password is hashed several times on the user’s device and is set differently to obtain a password hash and a password key. Provider knowledge of lung cancer screening guidelines varies, perhaps contributing to underutilization of LDCT scan for lung cancer screening. Common barriers to utilization of LDCT scan included failure of the electronic medical record (EMR) to notify providers of eligible patients (54.7%), patient refusal (37%), perceived high false-positive rate leading to unnecessary procedures (18.9%), provider time constraints (16.8%), and lack of insurance coverage (13.7%). Overall, only 6.2% of respondents correctly identified all six Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services eligibility criteria when challenged with three incorrect criteria. Academic- and community-based providers received a significantly higher mean knowledge score than safety net-based providers. Providers practicing at a community or academic hospital more frequently order LDCT scans than those practicing at a safety net hospital. Overall, 29.2% of providers report never ordering LDCT scans for eligible patients. The survey was sent to 614 providers, with a 15.7% response rate. Multivariable logistic regression was used to test the association between provider characteristics and the likelihood of utilizing LDCT scan for lung cancer screening. Fisher's Exact, Chi-Squared, and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used to compare provider responses. Primary care providers in three different healthcare settings in the United States were surveyed to assess provider knowledge of LDCT scan screening criteria, lung cancer screening practices, and barriers to the utilization of LDCT scan screening. Thus, identifying the barriers to utilization of LDCT scan is essential. Studies suggest that up to one-third of providers do not know the current lung cancer screening guidelines. You can make full use of that familiarity when starting to use Scrivener. ![]() My personal take: Just about everyone is familiar with typing, editing, and formatting in a word processor like Microsoft Word. When you select some text, the number of words selected is displayed at the bottom of the screen. The Scrivener team has obviously thought a lot about what writers will find useful, and I keep finding new treasures the longer I use the app. That’s much more flexible when it comes to publishing or exporting your document, and also assists in clarifying the document structure. By doing so you’re defining the role the text plays (title, heading, blockquote), rather than the way you want it to look. Images can be scaled, but not cropped or otherwise edited, once in your document.īut rather than using fonts to format your text, the best practice is to use styles. Images can be added to your document through drag and drop or from the Insert menu or paperclip icon. If you’re comfortable with Word there will be no surprises here. Font and highlight colors are selectable, line spacing options are available, and a range of bullet and numbering styles are offered. The toolbar above Scrivener’s Edit pane allows you to choose the font family, typeface and font size of your text, as well as make it bold, italic or underlined, and align it to the left, right, center or justify it. The app does allow you to type, edit and format words in ways you’re familiar with. Type and Format Your DocumentĪs a writing tool, you might expect Scrivener to provide a number of word processing features, and you’d be right. I found Scrivener easy to use, and appreciated the many tools and features it offers writers. While writing, I tried to use just about every feature the app offers, and I’m impressed. Scrivener Review: What’s In It for You?.Why Trust Me for This Scrivener Review?.What I Don’t Like: I encountered a minor bug while using the app. A flexible app that can be used in many ways. What I Like: Structure your document via outline or corkboard. I recommend it, especially if long writing projects are your thing. If that appeals to you, I encourage you to try Scrivener-it may suit you. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and found the app easy to pick up, but I’m aware that there are a lot of features under the hood that I haven’t even discovered yet. Is Scrivener worth it? After using Ulysses for many years, I wrote this entire review using Scrivener. The fact that it’s available on Mac, Windows, and iOS makes it available to most people. ![]() If you’re working on a large project or are serious about your writing, the additional learning curve required to master that power will be justified. Digging back into Paul Kunkel’s gorgeous 1997 book, “ Apple Design: The Work of the Apple Industrial Design Group,” I re-read the passages on the “Jonathan” concept computers built at Apple in the mid-Eighties and designed by John Fitch: The Boot Camp announcement reminded me of the past ’daily trials’ that Apple engineers have endured while building spectacularly unexpected products. Don’t we expect more from Apple, a company that is practically synonymous with systems innovation? Booted Predecessor to Boot Camp Still, it strikes me as reaching for only low-hanging fruit: making Windows available from a dual-boot prompt on Intel hardware is only minimally impressive from a technology standpoint. I still hold out a lot of hope for its eventual maturity, but it’s still a long way off.īoot Camp, though it’s being released today only in public beta form, is here and now, and it presumably has the more or less full commercial (if not technical) support of Apple Computer itself, which makes it dramatically more viable than Darwine. There’s a Macintosh-specific version of WINE called Darwine, and it has been making steady progress. This has been the focus of the open source WINE project, which seeks to give us the world of Windows software without Windows. This means launching programs written expressly for the Windows operating system alongside those written expressly for the Mac OS - getting the applications without the overhead of the frankly unwanted operating system, essentially. When Apple moved to Intel processors, my original hope was for native support for Windows applications inside the Mac OS itself. ![]() For the many users like myself who often need to work on two different platforms at once, it’s still not an ideal solution, nor does it truly mitigate the need to actually have two physical, separate computers on our desks. Through the lens of time and productivity, this is a costly decision-making process, and I can’t imagine swapping back and forth between Windows and Mac OS X more than once or twice a day. Boot Camp does nothing to mitigate the fact that dual booting is incredibly inconvenient, that a user must first make a modal shift in hardware to move from one operating system to the other. ![]() While I’m ecstatic about the idea of essentially getting two computers for the price of one with my next Macintosh purchase, I think dual booting is short of the ideal that I had in mind. The world outside of Apple’s many legions of overboard devotees seems to think so, too: this afternoon, the Boot Camp story made it into the prized top-left slot on our home page at (I swear that I have no influence over such decisions), and when the market closed today, AAPL was up by over six dollars. syndrome that’s dogged the company like a lingering cough for years and years. And, as our esteemed editor Dave Woods said in his NOLF2 review last month, even adored titles like Medal Of Honor are starting to bore us with their unending streams of levels crammed with bodies to shoot down. And, in a classic Sean Connery-era sexist move, it only applies to women. You have a pair of sunglasses that can be used to see in the dark or as x-rays to see through walls. Or was that just the website I was looking at? Actually, the lingerie provides the most Bondish moments in gameplay, since all the other things such as kissing beautiful women are saved for the cut-scenes. Or is it an evil missile attack plan? Yes, I distinctly remember something about missiles. There's some guy called Drake - a rather poor goateed villain who disappointingly fails to stroke white cats or keep pools of piranha - and some computer virus called Nightfire.
